Rust Chameleon "You'll never see me or your death coming." Core Information Name:Fuma Kotaro Nickname/Alias: Shinagawa Sainan (Shingawa Calamity) - Given this name by the local Tokyo media groups, it is in reference the the spree of property destruction, vandalism and theft that is especially heavy in the Shinagawa region and officers have pointed out that all the targets were connected to Shingawa Mutual Insurance in some manner. While no one knows that Kotaro is the Shinagawa Sainan, it still refers to him. Banchō - A name for male gang leaders, this was started as something of a joke that turned into an urban legend within Kotaro's and neighboring schools. To be more specific, a Banchō generally leads a gang of other boys. In Kotaro's case, since he is always by himself, it is effectively calling him a one-man gang. Urban legends have arose of Kotaro actively fighting against other gangs all by himself. These however are largely myth, although Kotaro has in fact fought other delinquents and by using the Brain Burst program in conjunction with his Jujutsu skill has defeated several opponents at once in the past. Gender: Male Age:15 Height: 5'7'' Weight: 145 lbs. Hobbies: Member of the Jujutsu Club / Walking Around Town / Stealth Games Talents: Is in very good physical condition due to training with the Jujutsu Club at his school. He is also fairly insightful due to his higher intellect. Appearance All in all Kotaro might be called handsome by many of the girls at his school or many girls in general. He has a rather athletic physique attained through many hours of training in Jujutsu as well as some additional exercise he does through walking around town. While he allows his hair to fall whatever way it wishes that day, the ear length silky locks surprisingly look rather good despite not being specially maintained or cared for. His skin overall is fair due to his tendency to wear concealing clothing, even going as far as to wear gloves and keep his hood up when outside. All of these things might have allowed most girls to call him handsome, but there are two traits that generally prevents this. The first trait is the large circular scar on the right shoulder. This is where a bullet passed through his shoulder a few years ago. While it has healed rather well, the scar is still easily seen. The second and more off putting feature are his eyes; while the dull emerald color is rare among the Japanese population and might have added an exotic attractiveness to the young man, the near constant annoyed or even angry cast that his eyes harbour puts any end to that and largely undermines his other features in the eyes of women. Apart from that the only thing that needs to be addressed is Kotaro's clothing. Naturally at school he wears their uniform, but it should be mentioned that should Kotaro have a long free period or any sort of time to himself he'll generally change into his Judogi and spend the time in the dojo. Outside of school however is where Kotaro's choice in clothing becomes more apparent. Rather than worry about what is popular or even what is the most comfortable. Kotaro chooses his clothing around the goal of hiding his face as best he is able to. This is due to his family history, more specifically his father. In order to try and avoid tabloid journalists and such he'll wear jackets with hoods, face masks, gloves and so on all in the hope of hiding who he is. He even goes so far as to have a pair of goggles with him to try and hide the unique coloration of his eyes. If one were to ask other people in school why he dresses like this however, you'd be fed gossip about how he was part of a Yakuza gang or at the very least that he was some sort of criminal, following in his father's footsteps. Sadly the last part is slightly true, at least to a very small extent. Personality To properly understand Kotaro's personality, one has to know how he used to be. When he was younger Kotaro was a very outgoing and friendly individual. He was a member of his student council in junior high, was the first to volunteer to help with anything that came up at school or any problems his friends faced. All in all he was a fairly popular individual. That's how Kotaro used to be however. The boy he is today is a very, very different beast. Kotaro has become something of an active shut in. To be more specific, Kotaro actively tries to ensure people do not notice him. The only activity he goes out of his way to do in school is Jujutsu and that is only because his father always wanted him to do it. Apart from that Kotaro has changed his clothing and even attitude towards everyone in the attempt to just be left alone. He hides his face, rarely speaks to anyone and even when he does it is generally just to tell them to leave him alone or insulting them so they stop trying to be friends with him. The truth of the matter is that not only has Kotaro learned this behavior after previously trying to stay out of the public eye, but at this point he honestly believes he is undeserving of friends and actively tries to avoid making any. Why does Kotaro feel that he is unworthy of any friendship or love? Quite simple really. . . he believes that he and he alone is responsible for his father's death. To be more precise he sees himself as a murderer, as the one who assassinated his father without ever having meant to do so. This does not make him incapable of loving others; on the contrary he still deeply loves his mother and his late-father. It's just he does not feel he deserves any type of love. In all honesty he does not even understand how his mother can look at him without seeing the man who murdered her husband. As it stands all Kotaro has left now is to try and make his father proud. For that reason he pursues Jujutsu heavily, doing his best to push himself and when that is not enough he will abuse the abilities of the Burst Link program. He however has come to have a slightly twisted sense of what his father would be proud of. After it was proven that his father had not stolen the money, Kotaro began to destroy anything owned by his father's former company who he feels not only helped kill his father by blaming him with no proof, but feels as if they spat on his death with the joke of a memorial they had built in his honor which was little more than an advertisement for their company. To this extent, Kotaro will break, vandalize or steal anything he can get his hands on if it means hurting that company. As Shinagawa Mutual is worth billions and owns thousands of branch companies, this means that Kotaro will target any small store or building owned by them whether it be a small covenience store, apartment building, office or whatever. It is these crimes that has put Kotaro in touch with some less than upstanding citizens. While he's obviously not a Yakuza or anything, he does know people he can sell items he steals to and various acquiantances who's place he can hide at if he needs to. Still, with that being said it is only a matter of time until Kotaro joins up with one of these groups with the path he is on as his crimes become more and more serious. History The only child of a fairly wealthy couple (Tena and Chono), Kotaro never truly wanted for anything in his life early on. While his parents did not spoil him, the made sure that he was always well fed, clothed and if he every truly wanted something that was more than an impulse they would get it for him. While Tena stayed at home to care for Kotaro, she also held a part time job as a legal transcriber; listening to audio notes and writing them out for attornerys and so on. Chono on the other hand was the one who earned the majority of the money in the household and as such was the one Kotaro had the most trouble spending time with. His father worked as the head Financial Officer of Shinagawa Mutual Insurance, which was the largest insurance company within Tokyo and one of the largest companies in Japan. Still, even with the staggering amount of work Chono had to do, he ensured to take every Sunday off and spend it with Kotaro. Sometimes they'd change things up and go to an aquariam or the beach, but most often they'd go to a park in Shinagawa and simply spend time with one another. As years went on their time at the park became more of a training period, as Chono started to teach his son the very basics of Jujutsu wanting Kotaro to follow the path he had in school with the martial arts clubs. As the years went by Kotaro proved himself a very good student and a better martial artist, pushing himself as hard as he could in response to his father's wishes. While he never went to national competitions, the young boy did win some local ones which made his father rather proud. All in all Kotaro life was a rather good one up until the last quarter of his first year in junior high. At that point Kotaro's life was drastically uprooted and changed to something new. That was when his father was accused of stealing three billion yen (roughly 25 million US dollars) from the company. Obviously, such an accusation has a way of turning a family's life on its head. As soon as the accusations were thrown at his father, the media swarmed. Reporters sat outside their house all hours of the night, they even occassionally sat outside of Kotaro's school hoping to barrage the boy with questions about his father. While Chono and Tena recieved the worst of the backlash from the incident, Kotaro was quickly ostracized at school. Those he had once called friend either asked about how his father did it or if their parents had lost money in the incident, they'd turn on him. While Takaro did not get beaten in many of the fights that were picked with him, the fact that all his friends either turned on him or only baggered him like the reporters left their own set of scars on the boy. Eventually Chono was forced to pull Kotaro from school, with the father and mother having to home school him. While Kotaro previously would have enjoyed the idea of spending more time with his father, under these circumstances caused it to be somewhat grating. More and more Kotaro felt a prisoner within his own home. He could not go out without being harassed by the media, he no longer had any truly close friends and worst of all there was a certain tension between all the family members with everyone's tempers shortened to a canon fuse. This of course led to many grizzly fights between Tena and Chono, with the two screaming over the accusations. In these fights Tena would scream at Chono, asking how he could get mixed up in this affair and why he felt he needed so much money; Chono continued to argue that he did not do it and how hurt he was that even his wife did not believe him. It was at times like these that Kotaro began to heavily lose himself in video games. While he could not leave the house physically, he could escape by linking into the net. While he also could no longer play MMO's without soloing all the time due to most of his friends wanting nothing to do with him, he discovered stealth action games. As these games reveled in the aspect of single player with driving stories and solid gameplay, Kotaro could not help, but to slowly fall in love with them. More and more, Kotaro began to shirk his lessons with his parents who barely realized, as they simply argued instead and eventually he began to shirk even other important necessities like eating and sleeping. More and more he withdrew from the world and into the world of gaming, finally having found an escape from the situation he found his family in. Of course, one can not spend all their life within a video game. While Kotaro certainly tried to disprove that with his actions, he occassionally would leave the game to watch a little television when he finally remembered to eat. It was during one of these times that Kotaro saw a news story on how a park in Shinagawa was being torn down to make room for a new building. This triggered a rather deep and profound sadness within Kotaro. Ever since he had been able to walk, he and his father had always gone to the park every Sunday. Ever since the whole affair had started though they had not gone even once. . . Always fearful of the media swarm ruining the day for them. That day he decided that enough was enough. He did not care if his father did it, whether he did or not Chono was still his father; he was still the man who had taught him jujutsu in the park and pushed him to become a better man. So Kotaro devised a plan. He left the house early in the morning, slipping out unnoticed by his family or the couple reporters outside of his house. While it took some time to get to Shinagawa, when he got there he sent a message to his father saying he was there and that if he did not come then he would just keep going. It was an empty threat in all honesty, but in order to break his father away from his concerns at home Kotaro felt it was a required one and his bluff worked in the end. While his father was upset when he first arrived, Kotaro explained why he had done what he did. The demolition, the growing rift between them and their whole family and just the general unhappiness that everyone was living in at the moment. He told his father that all he wanted was to enjoy the park one last time and pretend everything was okay. So, that's what they did. Chono and Kotaro spent the next few hours, just talking about previous events, telling jokes back and forth and just about everything else they might have did beforehand. As the day's light began to slowly sink in the late afternoon sky and the pair readied to leave, Chono stopped short to tell Kotaro something. "You've never asked me son, but I want you to know I never stole any money from my company. No matter what anyone says I want you to believe me in that. I helped to build that company up to what it is today. It's as much a part of me as my arm is. To hurt them or the people who worked their would be nearly as bad as hurting your mother or you to me. Anyways. . . I just wanted you to know in case you see anything on the news the next few days." As the two road back home, Kotaro considered his father's words. He did understand just how much time his father had put into his job and he had been to office parties in the past and knew that before this incident his father had been one of the most respected people working there. Still, that also showed Kotaro just how fleeting respect was at times. Arriving home, Kotaro stepped out of the car as soon as his father pulled into the driveway, ready to head inside with a renewed determination to help see his family through this rought spot. As soon as he got out however, Kotaro heard a loud bang some distance behind him and the next thing he knew he was laying on the ground with his shoulder searing with pain. The young boy tried to get himself to his feet, but his right arm was sluggish and did not want to support his weight, the boy simply falling back to the ground when he tried to rise. It was during his first attempt to rise that the boy heard a second bang. Unable to rise, Kotaro instead rolled onto his back, dazing up at the rooftops of the building on the other side of the street. Atop it sat a sole silohouette that seemed to be staring down at them. After a few moments staring at the figure, the shape on top of the building stepped up onto the rail and a few heartbeats later laid on the pavement, having stepped off the building willingly. It was then that Kotaro's head turned to the right and from the small space under their car, Kotaro was able to make out part of his father who was laying on the pavement just like he was. . . the only difference between them was that his father's chest no longer rose and fell as his own did. It was as the boy slowly realized that his father was dead that the world went dark and Kotaro slipped into unconciousness. Kotaro lived in that darkness for nearly a month. While he was disconnected from the waking world unable to feel even as surgeons cut into his flesh to save his life, he retained a semi-lucid state of conciousness within his coma. The entire time he drifted in the dark, all he had to dwell upon was a single thought over and over. . . it was all his fault. . . After lingering in a catatonic state for over a month, Kotaro finally awakened in the hospital. While Kotaro's mother and the staff of the hospital to see him awake, that enthusiasm quickly shifted to concern. Even though he finally had woken up, Kotaro refused to speak to anyone. Rather than deal with anything within the world, he instead fled to the virtual one. While Kotaro's mother wanted to take away the games and try and force the boy to talk, the hospital staff advised otherwise. They told her that people dealt with pain differently, at at the very least his playing games would stimulate his mind and allow them to monitor his brain waves more easily to ensure no adverse effects lingered from his being in a coma. Eventually, Kotaro was discharged from the hospital. His mother tried to talk to him about a plethora of matters, trying to get him to talk. For the longest part of the ride, Kotaro remained silent. It was only as they were going down a certain street that Kotaro spoke up, telling his mother to take a left. At first she was happy that he'd said something, but she quickly realized where Kotaro wanted to go. Immediately she pulled over and they began a quiet arguement, with his mother telling him that he was not ready, that he'd just gotten discharged and that he needed to go home. The only thing Kotaro would say was to take a left. Eventually his mother relented and she turned the wheel, taking a left and going down the road. After a few more turns and a small time of driving the two arrived at a temple, one which all his father's family had been buried at over the years. As soon as they stopped, Kotaro stepped out of the car, walking towards the spot his father had paid for long beforehand. As the young boy moved, he gradually began to pick up speed until he was in an all out run. It was only at the last few steps that the boy slowed, going from a sprint to a near crawl as he shuffled the final distance between him and the reality he had been dwelling on, even before he had awoken. As Kotaro viewed the grave before him, he fell to his knees, a small amount of tears already welling up at the corners of his eyes. When his mother finally caught up, she could only gasp at the sight of the grave marker. It had been written on with various paints, markers and even had a scorch mark near the base where someone had lit something on fire. As his mother left to find the groundskeeper so that it could be cleaned, Kotaro could only sob slightly. While no one had told him, it had been all over the net that his father had died that day and as much as he had hoped that it was all some kind of dream; deep down he knew what he had seen that day as he laid bleeding out on the pavement. . . his father was dead and it was as he finally admitted that, that the small voice from his coma softly whispered a response to the thought. . . "It's all your fault." After his mother returned with the groundskeeper, the two left to go home. Once he was home, Kotaro locked his self away in his room and immediately plunged himself into the stealth games he had taken refuge in before. Even there though he constantly had that little voice whispering in the back of his head, never letting him forget what he had done. Slowly, Kotaro's guilt gradually reshaped his personality, both in the waking world and in the online one. Within the waking world, Kotaro no longer acted the same around people. Where he had been warm and friendly with anyone who came his way, he was now cold and distant. As for the online world, it was even worse. Where he had once showed himself as a virtuous samurai, he slowly reshaped his persona to fit the monster he saw himself as. Now, rather than a armored samurai, Kotaro was represented by what could only be called a villainous assassin, with lifeless mechanical eyes. While he did not actively consider it, Kotaro was attempting to show everyone the monster he was, the killer he viewed himself to be. Eventually, after another month from when Kotaro was released from the hospital, the police released the results of the investigation on his father. They had determined that Chono had not stolen the money from the company, rather a low rank programmer at the company had siphoned money from the company with a computer virus and when Chono had implemented a paper cross check policy, the programmer had funneled funds to Chono's accounts to frame him for the crime that would soon be discovered. With Kotaro's father being proven innocent, his plunge into despair only became worse. After he was no longer thought of as the son of a thief, his friends tried to gravitate back towards him, girls even tried to confess their feelings. To both of these groups, Kotaro only said to leave him alone before walking away. Kotaro refused to speak with those who had cut ties with him when things had gotten hard, but more so he also refused to speak with those who had had nothing to do with the situation, simply not wanting to make them spend time with a killer. As he could not spend time with those he knew before and was unable to spend time with new people he simply decided to remain alone. . . After the innocence of his father had been discovered, Shinagawa Mutual Insurance had publically announced that they would be putting a stop to the demolition of Shinagawa Park and errecting a memorial there in honor of Chono who had been violently gunned down even though he had been innocent. Naturally, they failed to mention that their company had been one of the voices condeming that man over the past year. While Kotaro refused to go to the park, he did look through photos of the memorial online and what he saw disgusted him to the point where he smashed half his belongings in his room. His father's company had said they'd be putting up a large memorial in honor of his father and they had kept their word; what they had failed to mention was that the so called memorial would be a fifteen foot tall and ten foot wide statue of their company's logo with a three inch by two inich bronze placard hidden near the base that failed to even say his father's name. Instead the placard simply read "In honor of the innocent who are unjustly persecuted." It was at that point that something inside of Kotaro snapped, a the self hatred he had been swimming in found a secondary target. The same night that he had found out about the monument, he traveled there himself and right the wrong. In the small edge of bronze left untouched, Kotaro neatly used a small screwdriver and a hammer to etch his father's name into the memorial. Still, even righting that wrong as, but a drop of water on a forest fire. After that, Kotaro began a weekly ritual. At least once a week, he would sneak out of the house late at night and would target a piece of property owned by Shinagawa Mutual Insurance and would proceed to do as much damage as he could without getting spotted. Unknowingly, these acts were made easier by the vast amount of time Kotaro had spent within stealth games. He knew how to blend with a crowd, lose people who were following him, evade notice and with his body being in good condition from all his practice in Jujutsu, he was able to easily outpace anyone who decided to chase after him. Eventually his actions even gained him a nickname on the local news broadcasts as the "Shinagawa Sainan" (Shinagawa Calamity) for the sheer amount of money he cost businesses in the area. These late nights out however occassionally caused trouble for him in school. Every now and again Kotaro would be reprimanded for sleeping in class. Eventually, to try and combat this Kotaro began to sleep on the school's roof when possible during freeperiods on days after his weekly ritual. It was during one of these times that Kotaro woke up on the roof with a small piece of paper crumpled in his hand and taped to ensure it stayed. On the paper was a short message, with various commands for a program called brain burst. After looking through his neural link's programs, found the one mentioned in the paper. Curious, he went over what the paper said several times and eventually attempted the first comand on the list. Upon saying those fateful words of "Burst Link." Kotaro's world changed and while it literally changes for sixteen minutes and forty seconds, the truth is that his world changed forever at that point. Suddenly he had a new tool to help with his weekly ritual as well as his Jujutsu to make his father proud. It was as he went home that day that Kotaro fought his first battle in the Accelerated World. Naturally, like most beginners, he fumbled through the match. Where he had expected to be a close quarters fighter due to his training in Jujutsu, he instead found his virtual body weak and his right arm entirely replaced by a rifle. While it surprised him, Kotaro could not help, but to chuckle at the irony of being made a sniper in the game. In that first fight, essentially all Kotaro could do was run away and while he was able to stay ahead of his opponent, he did not think he would win. However, in the end he triumphed thanks to the special ability of his duel avatar; the corrosive shot had continued to pick away at his opponent's health the entire time he had run away and due to his opponent being a melee type he'd been unable to damage Kotaro enough to negate the difference. Soon after that, Kotaro was approached by the Red Legion and eventually by the Yellow legion as well when it came to light that he could blend with his environment. While Kotaro worked with both on a trial basis, he never stuck with either of the legions. Part of this was because Kotaro disliked the rules and limits the legion heads tried to place on him, but the true reason was that Kotaro did not want to make friends, even in this new world. So instead, Kotaro stated that he'd fight for whoever offered him more burst points. It was a simple system and while none of the legions took him up on his offer right away, they soon realized just how deadly an invisble sniper was and soon enough the offers began to flow in. Not only did Legions make use of him, but even smaller factions and groups of players who were unaffiliated paid for his help. As the points flowed in, Kotaro largely put these to use in the real world. He used them to slow time and percieve everything more accurately while being chased from his weekly destruction of Shinagawa Mutual Insurance property and within his jujutsu tournaments. It is his goal to go all the way to and win the national tournament where he can publically condem his father's former company on national television. Regular Link Username: Enigma Appearance: While Kotaro's taste in his avatar's appearance had begun to change after the accusations leveled at his father began to change his social life, it was only after his father's death that Kotaro's avatar went to sometime entirely in contrast to what he had used before. As a young child, Kotaro had always depicted himself as a noble samurai. Afterwards he depicted himself as what could only be called a mercenary or assassin. Quickly a kimono was replaced by BDU's and a flak jacket. A samurai's trust katana and wakizashi were in turn replaced by a customized M1 Garand modified to have a shortened barrel and a pistol grip as well as a Walther P38. Gone was the traditional crest of the Fuma and in was the untarnished blank cloth of a heavy blue-gray raincoat. . . gone was a young boy's smile only to be replaced by an uncaring, unchanging rebreather mask with glowing white eyes. What had once looked noble and kind has now transformed into an avatar meant to scare off those who might approach the boy in friendship. Rather than friendship, Kotaro has instead chosen to embrace anonymity and fear. As for what lies beneath the mask and the suit, all that remains is what Kotaro sees himself as. A twisted monster of a man that is more burns and scar tissue than human now. Burst Link Brain Burst Guardian: Unknown (Message me if interested) Name: Rust Chameleon Color: Rust [b7410e] Burst Points: 75 Level: 3 Exp:0 Appearance: At a glance it is obvious that Rust Chameleon is not built to take a large beating and likely will never be able to stand up in close range combat outright. Instead of a hulking brute like one my expect if they were to meet Kotaro in the real world, Rust Chameleon is instead a running, disappearing cannon for all intents and purposes. While most eyes are drawn to the large rifle that acts as Rust Chameleon's right arm, one of the aspects that should draw the most attention is its massive legs. Obviously these legs are built for speed, but are also ideal for both jumping and climbing. With extremely strong toes capable of crunching into concrete, they allow Rust Chameleon to quickly scale buildings and most other surfaces which in turn helps increase the avatar's lethal effectiveness when it comes to sniping. Of course the next major point on the body is Rust Chameleon's primary weapon. While it is comparatively small when measured against the firepower boasted by some of the pure red duel avatars, it is deceivingly powerful in its own right. While with its specs it'll never be able to kill an opponent in a single shot, with the oxidizing shot, the potential of it killing a target without landing a second shot is a possibility even at lower levels. Of course, the primary weapon is rather obvious considering its size and just how much of Rust Chameleon's body is taken up by it. The duel avatar's secondary weapon is another matter however. Rather than large and easily recognizable for what it is like the primary, Rust Chameleon's secondary weapon is a simple metal nozzle atop his left forearm. While it might appear like a small caliber PDW or maybe some sort of spare barrel for the rifle, it is actually a compact flamethrower. While it may not have anywhere near the lethality of the rifle, it can be surprising and more importantly can help keep enemies at bay who get too close, in turn giving Kotaro more time or room to get away from an opponent so he can try and blend with a new area. Of course, Rust Chameleon's tail is also a rather eye catching piece of the duel avatar, as it should be. The truth of the matter is that Rust Chameleon's tail is one of its most useful tools as it essentially regains the duel avatar a second limb to grab and manipulate objects with in place of it lack of a right hand. Most importantly Kotaro is able to utilize this tail to hang from objects or hide himself in areas one normally would be unable to position their selves in. This makes it even harder for opponents to spot the blending duel avatar. Last, but not least is Rust Chameleon's head. Many people might just scoff and say "so what, it's just a head." To do so though is to gravely underestimate just how useful the head on Rust Chameleon's shoulders is. Looking more closely one will see that Rust Chameleon is outfitted with five separate optics. One on either side which act as its peripheral and three in the front. These three in the front effectively allow Kotaro to simultaneously focus on either three targets or hold three different magnifications all at the same time while still maintaining awareness on their sides. With all of these optics Rust Chameleon is capable of maintaining up to two-hundred and seventy degree situation awareness. Combat Style: Due to the nature of Kotaro's duel avatar, he has fully embraced a less than usual combat style in the Accelerated World. Rather than charging headfirst into battle like so many other Burst Linkers, Kotaro instead generally starts every fight by running away. Although, if you were to ask him he would refer to it as a tactical withdraw to redeploy. By utilizing his faster than average speed, lean mech frame as well as his controllable tail; Kotaro will usually lose his opponent within the first dozen of seconds depending on the map they are fighting on. This is especially true with heavily forested or urban areas where there is a lot of cover to lose himself in. Once he has broken line of sight with his opponent Kotaro will utilize his chameleon ability to blend in with the area around him. By moving in short bursts and reutilizing this ability Kotaro will move around the map until he's found a prime sniper position. From there he will attempt to draw out his opponent(s) and then fire on them from his hidden position. While his rifle only has a single shot before needing to be reloaded, due to his camoflauge ability he is able to do this in relative safety. Combine this with the high damage output and the residual damage caused by his oxidizing shot and in the end all Kotaro has to do is land a single hit on his opponent(s) and evade them for the rest of the fight and he'll generally win. It should be noted however that this is his style if everything goes right according to plan. At times Kotaro will find himself unable to enact this plan, such as if he is fighting on an ocean map or on wide open plains. While he could still camoflauge himself, it becomes much more difficult if not impossible to make his opponent(s) lose site of him so he can blend without them seeing where he blended with the environment. In instances like this Kotaro's only choice is to simply run and fire as he can at his pursuer, hoping that he will be able to avoid taking damage. His only defense should he enter into a melee engagement is the oxyidizing effect touching him has. While an enemy might be able to chip away several to a dozen of his health percentage points with each hit, the attacker will in turn lose three percent every time they touch him from the oxyidizing effect. This gives Kotaro a single defense from melee users. In that if they're health is extremely low before they even injure him, that attacking him could cause their health to hit zero before they're able to kill him. Weapons: Primary - Right Arm Sniper Rifle: Being the primary weapon of Rust Chameleon, this large sniper rifle has replaced the duel avatar's entire right arm. While it means he is unable to grab anything on his right side without using his tail, it also allows him to carry a lot of firepower with very little bulk. Upon raising the gun to fire it, the weapons sights will be displayed in his vision as part of the HUD layout. Additionally by clicking over a mechanism in the rifle, Kotaro is capable of zooming from two to one-hundred times magnification. It should be noted that this rifle only is capable of holding and firing one round at a time. After firing, Kotaro must use his left arm to physically break the rifle's front half downwards on its hinge. This in turn will cause the spent casing to be ejected out, it appearing to be a clear glass like shell casing. At this point Kotaro must grab a fresh round which are stored within the spines of his tail. While many believe this limits the amount of ammo that Rust Chameleon has at its disposal, the truth is that new rounds "regrow" within the spines slowly anytime one is removed. While it does take nearly a minute for a new round to grow, the amount of spines give more than enough ammo to even continuously fire and not run out before the first one taken is regrown. Lastly, it must be mentioned that the damage put out by the rifle is quite high, a stark contrast by the very low ammo held within the rifle (one) and the relatively slow rate of fire due to the time required to reload the rifle after each shot. As it stands the rifle's damage ranks up in conjunction with the duel avatar's Ranged Firepower with four percent damage for every point in ranged firepower. This caps at twenty, meaning that the rifle will be able to do eighty percent of an opponent's health in a single shot should Kotaro ever be able to get Rust Chameleon to level nine and it's ranged firepower up to twenty. Secondary - Left Arm Flamethrower: While it is a secondary weapon and capable of injuring those idiotic enough to stand in it, the truth of the matter is that Kotaro more often uses it as a distraction or to help him escape an enemy by breaking their line of sight rather than actually fighting with it. It is capable of dealing one percent of damage for every point in Ranged Firepower so long as the flames blast the opponent or if they are dumb enough to stand in any still burning flames on the ground. It should be noted that unlike his rifle arm, this weapon is mounted on his forearm and allows Rust Chameleon to retain the function of its left hand for the purposes of reloading. Melee - Tail: Used even less often than the flamethrow, Kotaro prefers to use Rust Chameleon's tail as an anchor while sniping. Generally Kotaro will have the tail wrap around and hold onto an object and then hang from a wall or such. By combining this less than obvious position with his blending ability, many opponents have never even been able to locate Kotaro after their fight began. However, due to the tail being strong enough to support more than double all of Rust Chameleon's weight with ease, it's potential use as a melee weapon with it's razor sharp tip should not be completely overlooked even if it is doubtful Rust Chameleon would last longer than two or three strong blows. Abilities: Chameleon Cloak: As one might be able to guess from the name Rust Chameleon, Kotaro's duel avatar is capable of changing it's coloration at will. While this could be used to change it to any number of colors and trick opponents into believing he specializes in something else, it is most commonly used to blend with his surroundings. This cloak ability prevents any other duel avatar from visually spotting Kotaro, but also prevents him from being spotted by things such as radar or thermal imaging devices. This ability of course lends itself to be rather handy to a duel avatar armed with a high damage output sniper rifle and a large amount of speed. It should be noted however that the blending affect is not instantaneous. Upon willing it or pressing himself to a surface it takes three seconds (in the accelerated world) to change his coloration. Furthermore while he can change basic coloration while moving, to blend with anything or even the air he must be standing completely still while the blending process is happening. Apart from thermal, radar and other things that would give a visual indicator of where he is, Kotaro can still be detected by the other senses such as smell, hearing, taste and touch. Concealing Thrash: For Rust Chameleon's second ability, we once again see a more passive or non-combative ability; this time Rust Chameleon may utilize it's long tail and temporarily boost the speed with which it's tail is capable of moving. While in this state Kotaro can have Rust Chameleon's tail quickly thrash around the ground and in doing so, kick up a screen of dust, debris or any material in the area to conceal himself temporarily. While this optical barrier only lasts ten to fifteen seconds, it allows Rust Chameleon to quickly escape so that it may break line of sight and blend in with its surroundings once again. Finishers: Oxidizing Shot: Being rust in nature the first special attack Kotaro gained access to was a specialized Oxidizing shot for his sniper rifle. While coming into contact will cause enemies to oxydize to a small extent, it stops once they have ceased to touch him. With the Oxidizing shot however, the effect lingers and will even stack on top of itself. This means that once an opponent has been hit with this special they will continually lose health until they hit zero or until the timer runs out and the match ends. As far as the actual damage is concerned, the shot causes a one percent drop in the target(s) health every ten seconds or one post (whichever is the shortest) and those with a metallic nature (silver, iron, etc.) will be injured five percent of their health every ten seconds or one post (whichever is the shortest); adding in the fact that these numbers can be compounded one can see why Rust Chameleon's Oxydizing Shot should not be underestimated. Gale Shot: Where the Oxidizing Shot is intended to slowly eat away at the target's health, the Gale Shot is intended to move fast and quickly hinder a target. This shell, like Rust Chameleon's other ammo is stored and grown on his tail. Once being loaded and fired, the round will quickly tear through the air, twice the speed of a normal shot and detonate once it detects a solid surface within ten feet in front of it, having a forty-five degree cone of range, meaning that even if it is not perfectly in front of it, as long as it is close, it will detonate. Upon detonation, the shell will unleash a violent gale force wind that will easily blow away anything not extremely heavy, capable of knocking down walls or uprooting trees. For all this apparent damage however, the shell actually does very little damage to an opponent, actually reducing the damage output of Rust Chameleon's rifle by fifty percent. It is for this reason that Kotaro generally uses this round only if an enemy is rushing him and needs to be quickly repelled or if he hopes to throw his opponent in order to make them more vulnerable to a follow up shot. So, in the end while the Gale Shot reduces the damage output of Rust Chameleon's rifle, it's properties open up several potential uses for the unique round. Perks: Alternate between +2 firepower and +1 Accuracy / +2 Firepower and +1 Speed until ranged firepower hits twenty. At that point alternate between accuracy and speed.
