Character
Name: Kazuo Kiriyama
Nickname/Alias: Kaz
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 148lbs
Hobbies: playing with various electronics, brain burst
Talents: very good with computers and technology
Appearance: Kazuo is an American with blond hair and blue eyes. He keeps his hair relatively short and spiked slightly in the front. When not in school, he usually dresses somewhat gothic, with boots, black pants, chains, and a dark colored t-shirt. (I will try to find a picture later.)
Personality: Kazuo is extremely shy around people he doesn't know. He has severe abandonment issues, so he does not let people get close to him easily. Interestingly enough, when he is in brain burst, he acts completely different. With no one able to see his face, he feels comfortable interacting. For those who do manage to become close to him, he would do anything.
History: Kazuo was born Alexander Pollman. His father was a member of the American military forces stationed in Japan. But shortly before Alexander's first birthday, his father and mother were killed in a drunk driving accident. (his father was driving drunk and the front of the vehicle was hit by a semi.) Kazuo still has a faint scar on his calf from the accident.
With no immediate family to take him, Alexander was adopted by one of his father's co-workers. The man, Jansen Kiriyama, and his wife Mina were unable to have children of their own. So they took in the child and renamed him Kazuo. He stayed with them for just over 6 years before tragedy struck again. Jansen and Mina got caught in the crossfire of a gang war drive by, and both died before they reached the hospital. Kazuo was spared only because he was young and the bullets were above his head.
Kazuo next went to live with Mina's sister, Natsumi. While living with Natsumi, he discovered his love of electronics, and began playing and tinkering with everything he could get his hands on. This lasted another 4 years before Natsumi became sick. Kazuo did everything he could to help her, but ultimately there was nothing he could do. He watched her slowly waste away over the course of a year, and she eventually died.
Kazuo spent about a year living in an orphanage. Jansen's brother Hisashi and his wife Keiko agreed to take him in, but they were out of country on business, and could not take him immediately. When they returned to Japan they officially adopted him, but due to their work they regularly leave the country, and being a dangerous job they leave Kazuo behind. This only served to depen his abandonment issues.
About 2 years ago Kazuo joined his school's computer club. He enjoyed it, and it was something to do with his free time. A year later one of the members, Ekichi Kiyoshi, began talking to him. The two got along well, largely due to Ekichi's outgoing and relentless personality, and soon became close friends.
Finally, Ekichi revealed his true purpose. He explained that he had watched Kazuo play video games and was impressed. But there was a game he had never heard of called brain burst. Kazuo installed it, and the two went their separate ways for the night with Ekichi saying he would explain what he knew the next morning.
That night, while Kazuo slept and had strange horrible nightmares, Ekichi was fighting for his life. Ekichi's parent had given him the game right before moving away, and so hadn't had time to explain much about it. So when Ekichi was able to level up, he did so immediately, putting himself near zero bp. In a panic, he challenged an opponent, wanting to get some more bp, but he lost and his game was uninstalled.
The next day, when Kazuo approached Ekichi, Ekichi had no idea what Kaz was talking about. Ekichi seemed a different person, and barely seemed to know Kazuo anymore. Kazuo, not understanding and thinking this was all some joke at his expense, became furious. He quit the computer club and missed a few days of school. He thought about uninstalling the brain burst program, thinking it might be a virus, but something stopped him every time.
That was 3 months ago. Somehow Kazuo managed to avoid fighting for 2 months, never getting challenged. When he finally was challenged, he had no clue what was going on. His opponent, going by the name Sapphire Samurai, had honor and refused to fight an opponent so clearly lost and helpless. So instead they talked, Sapphire Samurai explaining all the bare basics during the battle time. Before the duel ended, Sapphire Samurai told Kazuo to come find him when he was ready.
