This started as a really complicated method, and gradually got simpler as I toyed with it. This is, by far, the easiest way for me to explain it.
You need 5 EXP to get from level 1 to level 2, and the number goes up by 5 per level (10EXP to go from 2 to 3, 15 from 3 to 4, and so on). The only way to get EXP is through duels with other Burst Linkers. For every duel you win, you gain EXP equal to your opponent's level. Simply put, a level 1 player would need to beat 5 people who were level 1, or 3 at level 2, or two at level 2 and 1 at level 1, or... never mind. Not only do you need to collect the appropriate amount of EXP, but every level-up requires a 100BP. Your EXP resets to 0 after you level up, and any extra EXP you've accumulated beyond the requirement doesn't carry over. Now, you don't have to level immediately if you're worried about your BP getting too low, but you'll slow down your EXP gains as a result, so be aware of that. Level 9 is different, though, you have to beat 5 other level 9's to hit 10, just like the anime.
